Michael Bailey is a proud son of Brooklyn, raised in the heart of Bed-Stuy. Growing up in District 56 taught him the values of resilience, community, and pride. Those roots shaped the man he is today: an attorney, small business owner, and lifelong advocate for his neighbors.
After earning his law degree, Michael returned home to serve the community that raised him. As an attorney, he has fought for working families, tenants, and small businesses. He knows firsthand how hard it can be to navigate a system that often feels stacked against everyday people.
Michael is running for New York State Assembly, District 56, because our community deserves better. From housing affordability and small business protections to community safety and youth opportunities, he believes District 56 has the power to set a new standard for what thriving neighborhoods look like.
Michael’s campaign is built on partnership with the people of District 56. He knows real change happens when we work together — block by block, neighbor by neighbor. With your support, Michael will bring the voices of Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights to Albany and deliver results for our community.

Every family deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. Michael will fight for stronger tenant protections, hold negligent landlords accountable, and push for real solutions to stop displacement and gentrification in Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights.
Public Safety with Community-Led Solutions
Public safety must come from the ground up. Michael supports investing in violence prevention programs, expanding mental health resources, and strengthening community partnerships so every block feels safe and supported.
Protecting Small Businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights. Michael will advocate for protections against predatory landlords, access to capital, and city/state policies that help local businesses survive and thrive.
Health, Wellness & Family Stability
As a father who has experienced the family court system firsthand, Michael will work to reform the judicial process to protect families. He is committed to ensuring fairness, accountability, and a system that strengthens — rather than tears apart — households.
Education & Youth Opportunities
Our young people deserve better. Michael is committed to ensuring young people in District 56 have access to quality schools, after-school programs, mentorship, and workforce opportunities that prepare them for success in the 21st century.
Cultural Preservation & Community Pride
District 56 is rich in history and culture. Michael will fight to protect the culture, history, and legacy of Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights — from preserving Black-owned institutions to supporting the arts and cultural spaces that define our community.
